I picked up this vintage metal tin at a thrift store a few months ago. Isn’t it the sweetest?
I’m loving the stylish lady on the lid. I need a hat like that. Her dapper beau is equally put together. They’re a lovely pair. It makes me want to strap on a pair of skates and head to the lake.
I’m sure my skating adventures would be far less romantic, but one can dream.
Nestled in the tin are Chai-Spiced Cookies I made for Mister. I’m not a big holiday baker, but I know many people are. Are you?
I think it’s great to give home made goodies as gifts. What better way to show you care than creating something with your own two hands?
Metal tins are a nice way to store, transport, and give your creations.
Sure plastic is cheap, but plastic is cheap. A pretty decorated metal container elevates your gift to another level.
These occasionally pop up at thrift stores and garage sales. Old or new, you can pick them up for a couple bucks. I have even seen them at garage sales for under a buck!
They come in handy throughout the year to stash things in and then when needed can be turned into gift wrap and given away. It’s like giving two gifts in one!
Hopefully the recipient will do the same and pass it on. Keeping one more piece of plastic out of the waste stream.
Both plastic and metal will last for a long long time. But plastic is perceived as disposable. It will be tossed away to sit in a landfill FOREVER. And it’s toxic.
Not exactly the heartwarming gift you want to give.
These Chai-spiced cookies on the other hand certainly are warming, thanks to the six spices contained within them.
Check back tomorrow for the recipe!
