I have been in a hermit mood lately. Do you ever get those? You know, where you can go days or weeks without stepping foot out of the house and feel totally fine?
Mister can only make it a few hours without going stir crazy. I can go months.
I am in a months mode now.
I have not been out of the house much since October. If I did not have to eat, I would not go out at all. But alas, eventually our cupboards run bare and a trip to the grocery store is in order.
Today was one of those days.
I used the occasion to bust out one of my unworn dresses.

The grocery store is always a good place to test out a new outfit. It is full of unbiased strangers in a non-threatening atmosphere, who are unsuspecting of what they are about to see. Their reactions are immediate and genuine.
My intent was to test out this dress, but it was my hat that stole the show. Everyone noticed it, no one knew what to call it.
It is unfortunate that ladies now days are not accustomed to wearing or seeing other ladies wearing hats. So much so, that they do not know what to call them when they do.
A young collegiate complimented me on my “headband”. I thanked her graciously and carried on.
I am a wearer of many hats. Literally. You can see a few of them here.
IN THIS LOOK
- Vintage half hat
- Target earrings
- Vintage brooch
- ModCloth Work with Me Dress
- Hue stockings
- Thrifted from Goodwill kitten heels
I have gotten quite a few questions about my curls lately. I have not done a tutorial for this style, but it is simple to do.
These were created using a curling iron. Everything was curled upward, slipped off the iron and clipped into place until cool. Once cooled, I removed the clips and loosened the curls with my fingers.
That’s it!

That dress is incredible!!! I saw it on Modcloth and loved the 40s style cut but wasn’t sure about the print, seeing it on you though has completely changed how I feel about this dress! The print is stunning!
I get a lot of weird looks when I go grocery shopping and it irks me a little. I think a lot of the time people look at me like a freak for getting dressed up to do the shopping, and I don’t even wear hats or gloves….though I imagine if I wore a hat like yours it would really turn heads

Love the dress. It’s so perfect and has it all: Peter Pan collar, peplum, and floral prints.

Take care

I am in love with this entire look, the dress, the hat, the shoes, all of it. I’m going to hop over to mod cloth stat to steal me one of these beauties. I wear a lot of hats, but I’ve never done the half hat before, I’m going to have to check out my local vintage store now. Thanks for the inspiration!
