Yesterday was a special day.  I had my first blog interview!  It was for an upcoming issue of Coulee Region Women.  CRW is a regional home and healthy living magazine for La Crosse, WI.  That means local people could start reading my blog!  Exciting … and odd.  I’m still getting used to the idea of family reading my ramblings.

The interview went well, I thought.  I met a doll named Mary – Hi, Mary! – and then proceeded to talk her ear off for the next hour – Sorry, Mary.  She was wearing fabulous boots so I knew immediately I would like her.  And I did.  It was like having a coffee date with a girlfriend.  I wish all client meetings were like that.

Speaking of shoes, were we?  One of my Flickr photos ended up in Explore!  A photo of the shoes I wore to my interview no less.  Now that’s exciting.  I’ve had these shoes for a year, but this was their maiden voyage.  Special shoes are saved for special days.  This was both.

So, what did I wear, you ask?  A good representation of vintage, thrifted, indie, modern, and purchased locally.

You can never go wrong with a LBD.

Starting from the top:  my fascinator is a modern piece from Target, the earrings came from Goodwill, my dress is vintage from Vintage Vogue {local}, the belt is secondhand from Treasures on Main {local}, my clutch is vintage from an antique mall in Hixton {local-ish}, that watch and bracelet were thrifted from garage sales, my cocktail ring was purchased from an independent Silpada representative, my tights came from ModCloth, and those special shoes are from Indie designer Poetic Licence purchased locally at Kick.

Damn squirrel!

The squirrels were not happy I was under their tree.

I love this dress.

Special shoes for a special day.

I couldn’t help but read through your blog and discover that the places you got your treasures from…and I am wondering are you from Wisconsin? Vintage Vogue and Treasures on Main are my favorite places to shop in town. I am just too excited to contain myself at the idea that there is another blogger in Wisconsin!!

Not only am I from Wisconsin Ashley, I live in West Salem! Perusing your blog I see pics of Myrick Park, Riverside and other local places in La Crosse. Imagine that. Two vintage-loving, thrift-shopping, recycled-fashion bloggers in the same town!!! Wahooey! I finally have a chance at a blogger meet up.

Give me a shout if you ever want get together and chat – or shop – or do a photoshoot. Vintage Vogue is my absolute favorite store. Nearly my whole wardrobe is from there – and Kick.
